Because we are building the world of tomorrow and have a responsibility for what we will leave to our future generations. It is important for us to be ever more respectful of our environment and therefore to be a partner in sustainable tourism.
Concerned about limiting our impact on the environment, we have implemented concrete actions to minimize our water and energy consumption, reduce our waste but also to promote local and more sustainable tourism.
In partnership with Cévennes Tourisme we are part of the « Engagé(e)s Tourisme Durable » network and also labeled « Eco-Gestes » by Gîtes de France.
L’Autre Maison also participates in the « Refuges LPO» program because we are committed to implementing the necessary conditions to preserve and welcome wild fauna and flora while respecting the LPO charter, and this since 2022.

- We are equipped with solar panels: 40% of our annual electricity consumption comes directly from the sun, and apart from the gas stove, everything in our house is electric.
- We use energy-efficient household appliances.

- The best waste is the one we don’t produce.

We reduce our waste at the source by purchasing our products in bulk or with minimal packaging.
- We avoid disposable containers, you will notice it yourself at breakfast for sugar, butter, jam… no unnecessary waste.
- And obviously we compost organic waste.

Let’s drink tap water and use water bottles; in France, the water is perfectly drinkable.
- We consume seasonal and products from our local markets, encouraging short circuits and support local producers.
Our other actions

- Our cleaning products are healthy: black soap, household vinegar and lots of elbow grease.
- The laundry detergent and hygiene products are organic and local, Thanks laboratoire Gravier in Lussan.
- No food waste at our place.
- We minimize our car journeys.
- We adopt the right actions in our green spaces to protect biodiversity and take care of the wildlife that surrounds us.
